Thirty years ago, in 1991, founding partners, Ramon Gilsanz, Philip Murray, and Gary Steficek, came together to form Gilsanz Murray Steficek. Seasoned and established engineers, the three partners started GMS in an office at 95 University Place in Manhattan with one employee and one purpose: to provide structural engineering solutions to communities across the world.
Since then, GMS has only grown – in size, experience, and services offered. Our staff has increased to over 110 employees and nine* partners; the New York headquarters is now accompanied by sister offices in California, New Jersey, and Connecticut; the firm is licensed to practice in all 50 states, Washington D.C., the U.S. Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico; and our number of completed projects continues to soar over the 15,000 mark. One of the first structural engineering firms to implement building envelope and inspection services, GMS is a name people know and our work has impacted incredible spaces. From new construction, to original art installations, and even national landmarks, we have covered some serious ground, including Los Angeles, New York City, Madrid, and more.
Needless to say, none of our accomplishments would be possible without our amazing clients and partners. We are incredibly lucky to have worked with companies of all sizes and reputations – some of whom are award-winning names and others who were just getting started. Each and every one has made an immeasurable impact on GMS and we are forever grateful.
To celebrate such a meaningful milestone, we created a campaign highlighting some of the most significant projects GMS has completed over the years: #30DaysofGMS. For the past month, we have shared 30 projects over 30 days via our Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook accounts to provide a look at some of what GMS has accomplished during the last 30 years. Take a look at the completed #30DaysofGMS campaign below and thank you to all of our clients, employees, partners, and everyone who helped GMS reach 30! We look forward to working with you all as we continue to grow.
